ElunesGracePodcast #33 - Voice Chat Revisited

  • Check out WOW for Hallows end information - it starts October 18th.

The Shade of Aran:

  • High DPS fight.
  • 3 Special Attacks that you can avoid: Blizzard - moves either clockwise or counterclockwise around the room. Flame Wreath - do not move when he casts this. If you have pets - make sure they do not move. Super Arcane Explosion - He pulls everyone to him - start walking toward the wall - you have time to reach the wall without having the spell being disspelled. You cannot wait for anything - the minute you are pulled in, get walking to the wall out of range.
  • Keep his health below his mana to delay his group polymorph.
  • At 40% the water elements are summoned. Deal with them as you wish - they last 90 seconds.
  • Group polymorph - healers try your best to ensure the group is topped off in health prior to this happening. After the polymorph he does a big Pyroblast - hopefully most of you will live to finish him off!

Voice Chat:

  • Treat others as you would like to be treated
  • Just remember that you do not know who is on the other side of the keyboard

Ellie and Sal -- love your show!

Here's an idea: the next time someone is talking nasty to you in voice chat, record them. You can bleep stuff out and add it to the cast. Be sure to tell us their character names. Maybe some public shaming would correct these guys.

I like the idea rpg, but that may be illegal..not sure, but I would say proceed with caution when recording someone without their express permission.

On a side note, who performs the intro song? I LOVE it!

Great show ladies! :)

I'll let Elly tackle the song question as she produces the show, but LOVE the recording idea. A little public shame can go a long way, but recording without someone's knowledge may be crossing a line. However, noting the character name and posting it on a "Wall of Shame" may have some merit. hmmmmmm

The intro song is from the band The Rantings of Eva. The title of the song is Paperdolls.

Last I heard at, they may have a record deal.

Thank you very much, I need to buy that song ASAP.

You know, it is such a sad state of affairs when people act like complete and utter misanthropes under the veil of 'internet anonymity'. What cowardice, and you two spoke the truth when you said on your show that these shmucks wouldn't ever act this way in 'real' life.

Perhaps it's the fact that I am an 'older' gamer, at 35 years of age, but I just don't get it when they act in such a way as to offend and insult people, particularly women.

My theory: Internet and the access to pornographic portals that any child can access these days, combined with extremely poor parenting practices. I don't think it's the end all, be all, BUT..I truly believe that it warps a person's view (especially a male's view) and absolutely leads to them being jackasses in venues just like voice in WoW. This theory is fresh in my mind, as I spent the summer with my 15yr old nephew, so forgive me if I am ranting, lol.

I will have to create an ID for here, but in the mean time, I love your show, especially your laughs. I find myself, like a loon, laughing along when you both laugh. Oh well! :)

Until I figure it all out, this is Grynder, 68 Huntard of Whisperwind, signing off!

Another great show guys (gals rather). Aside from how women are spoken to or treated in game, I think it's also unacceptable for people (again, I assume mostly teenage boys) to talk and have every other word be "f*g", g*y", "a*****e", etc. I automatically hit the ignore button when that happens...

Just a few notes on Shade...

1. You should not be interrupting the arcane blast, but rather just heal through it (hence the 8k hp min).

2. He only mass-polymorphs if, after he's down to 20%, his mana drops below his hp. I've killed the shade on more than 1 occasion when he never sheeped the group because we kept his HP lower than mana.

3. You can get knocked out of the sheep by the elementals.

4. As soon as you come out of sheep (assuming the elementals didn't already knock you out), spam your healthstone or health pots so that right after the pyroblast, you can get back some hp right away, in case you are the next target of a spell.
